Confessions of a Soccer Mom

About three weeks ago, we began a soccer program (along with six or seven of my friends, and their little ones) designed to teach athletic "basics" to three and four year olds. The core premise is one coach, four drill stations, twenty preschoolers and forty parents attempting some semblance of order. The first attempt was mass chaos and choruses of "I'm hungry" or "I'm tired" or as my child demonstrated, multiple trips to the potty or full fledged fist pounding and feet thrashing. I was seriously debating my sanity and thought process for enrolling a three-year-old in organized sports.

The second week was a hair better, and I must say he looks pretty darn cute in Umbro's and those adorable socks that run the length of his calves. Although his attention span has not dramatically improved from when we started, the wooden spoon has done wonders in keeping his motivation from crashing to a screeching halt :)

The big game is in a couple of weeks, I have a feeling it will look a lot more like a herd of goats than an actual game... but it should be interesting. Watch out Alabaster- Smart Start has invaded!
